Supported by UK Finance, DCPCU\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is on the frontline in the fight against fraud.<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0And over the past year, the unit has worked in partnership with several social media platforms to take down over 1,600 accounts which featured posts relating to payment:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">500 \u201cmoney mules\u201d accounts used to recruit young people<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">250 accounts involved in the trading stolen card details<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">+400 \u201cbrokers\u201d accounts\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">with the rest of the accounts used for \u201cflipping\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In 2019 DCPCU seized \u00a31.65 million of assets &#8211; over double the amount confiscated in the same period in 2018 &#8211; with a total of 75 fraudsters convicted to a total of 100 years in prison.
